Progress towards better health throughout the World demands the involvement of whole population, promoting the health of mothers and children combating malnutrition, controllong malaria and other communicable diseases including Tuberculosis, polio etc, through immunization providing safe water supply and training health personnels of all categories.

Alternative Medicine is spreading widely with the increased awareness of its healthy and economic importance. The National Health Policy 2002 of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India envisaged the importance and inherent advantage such as diversity and growing popularity of Alternative Medicines.

To succeed in attaining Health for all Goal, all useful Alternative System of treatment have to be employed. Moreover the Paramedical staffs should also be increased in number And for which training of Paramedical Courses by various private Institutions must also be encouraged. By undergoing the Paramedical and Alternative Medicines training courses one can employ themselves for livelihood and by providing healthcare service to the Society.

As envisaged the Alma Ata Declaration made on 6-12th September 1978 Primary Health Care has been defined as an essential health care made universally accessible to individuals and families in the communities by means of acceptable to them through their full participation and at a cost that the community and the Country can afford. In order to make primary health care universally accessible in the community as quickly as possible maximum community and self reliance for health development are essential. To attain such self reliance requires full participation in the planning organization/Institution for management of primary health care and such participation can be best mobilized through appropriate education as Community Health Worer which enables communities to deal with their real health problems in the most suitable way as they can be trained in short time to perform the specific tasks.

To succeed in attaining Health for All goal, all useful Alternative methods of treatment have to be employed. Moreover such Alternative System of Medicines has a reasonable Alternative answer to most of the diseases which have no amenable answer from Modern Medical Treatment.

What is Alternative Medicines :

This term Alternative Medicines is loosely used to cover all forms of medicines except Allopathy. In 1973, the Medical Faculty of university of Rome convened the first congress of Alternative Medicines and the provisional programme contained no less than 135 different therapies.The expert of WHO also identified and enlisted more than 100 types of practices and they have termed these as traditional medicines.

Aims and Objectives :

Recently we see there is a boon in various Paramedical Courses and Alternative Medicines courses.

Institute of Medical and Paramedical Science in Copllaboration with North East Council of Alternative Medicines which is duly affiliated by Open International University for Complementary Medicines resolved to promote education through correspondent and regular courses with the following objectives:-

  1. To educate rural health workers about Alternative system of treatment by highlighting the merits of this system of such as cheapness of treatment and achievement of lasting cures, freedom from side effects due to drugs administration through proper training.
  2. To make the treatment easily available to the mankind of all levels by opening charitable dispensaries and affiliated training Institutes both in Paramedical and Alternative Medicines.
  3. To arrange Scientific Seminars and symposiums and Exhibitions of Alternative System of Medicines and Paramedical Science.
  4. To offer help to the Government in solving unemployment problem of educated unemployed youths by providing self employing courses.
